Kellan is really talking up a storm. He's catching on to so many words, we can hardly keep up! Here are the ones most recently added to his repertoire:

Kellan loves to read. Yippee! All those months of reading to him as a little baby are really starting to pay off. Now that he can climb onto the sofa and recliner on his own, I'll often find him sitting there, happily flipping through a board book by himself. What a good boy. Until a few days ago, Kellan had his own version of a Chuckit, which is a tool that allows the user to throw a dog ball without actually touching the slobbery thing. (Genius!) Kellan's was a long, red kitchen spoon. However, he smashed it into a wall one day and it broke. So we decided he needed his very own REAL Chuckit! Now Kellan's chuckin' in style. He still can't actually let the ball fly, but I think that's probably a good thing right now! Megan posted a link to this personality quiz on her blog, and it's fun! I think it came eerily close to summarizing what I'm like. Here's what it says: I love pizza. I love eating it and making it. But this is my new favorite recipe -- grilled pizza! Making the crust is easy with my KitchenAid mixer and it cooks up super fast on the grill. The only difficulty I ran into was flipping the dough. I didn't quite have the tools to do it right (and suffered a little burn on a couple fingers as a result) but the delicious result was worth it! My shoe addiction continues! In fact, I just learned the greatest sign -- to say shoes with my hands, I just bump my two fists together. It's great, 'cause now I have another way to identify them other than saying "Mama" for Mommy's shoes or "Dada" for Daddy's shoes. (I have no problem telling the difference, by the way, not even between their many pairs of flip flops!) My mom lives in a very nice Meridian neighborhood with a community pool, a pool Kellan has been to twice in his life -- once last August and once last weekend. What a difference a year makes. Earlier I mentioned the amazing stillness of the dog we saw at the museum last week. Well, there was another animal there. A seriously WEIRD-LOOKING animal. Have I mentioned I love dogs? They're just great. Enzo is probably my favorite dog (he lets me sit with him and read a book, or smack him with my toys), but I love all kinds. Big ones, little ones, slobbery ones....dogs are just hilarious. My Grandpa Paterson was a proud member of the El Korah Shriners, an international fraternity based on Masonic principles. He had a special costume for the many parades El Korah shriners participated in -- a "Keystone Cop" style outfit, complete with whistle and badge. But the "wheels" are what made the look complete...a bright red Scat Kitty with a little prisoner. Grandpa Paterson constructed the special holding cell himself! |
