Last weekend's Homecoming Parade in Moscow was quite an affair. Since it was "Band Day", high school and junior high bands came from far and wide to participate in the Homecoming activities. There were also lots of political entries, of course, and gobs of floats. VOTE JOE VANDAL FOR PRESIDENT After seeing these guys in action, Kellan is now fascinated with marching bands Eeek! This is a Vandal I wouldn't want to mess with Uncle Jay on the left and Cousin Ben on the right, marching with their fellow bagpipers and wearing their support for Sen. Barack Obama This is a float of Joe Vandal and Coach Akey stomping on a New Mexico State Aggie -- and they actually moved, thanks to guys hiding in the White House with ropes in their hands Talk about multi-tasking -- yes, she's actually knitting while marching in the parade Kellan looks bored, but he really did have fun, I swear P.S. -- CUTE BABY ALERT!!!This is my cousin, Ben, and his adorable son, Seamus. It was our first time meeting Seamus, and he was so cute and snuggly that Ben and his wife Jessie are lucky I didn't sneak off to Boise with him. Well, we're back! It's taken me a while to get some of our pictures posted. Along with a suitcase full of Vandal pom poms, seat cushions and T-shirts, I also brought back a nasty stomach bug. I think I'm finally on the road to recovery now. Giraffes are probably my favorite animal right now. Mommy and Daddy taught me the sign for giraffe, which is a good thing because saying "giraffe" is still pretty tough for me right now. Anyway, imagine my delight when I got to see one, in PERSON! One of Zoo Boise's new visitors stoops to nibble on grass Mmm...a snack that doesn't require a deep knee bend A nice view from the giraffes' new pad Kellan demonstrates the sign for "giraffe" while checking out a bronze giraffe statue Check this out! Zoo Boise has come a long way since we were kids. Hello faithful Reagan Rendevous readers. Some of you know that I'm a fan of a certain kind of books. Books that often fall in the "self help" category -- a name I don't particularly like since it implies that the person holding it is in need of help. I prefer "self improvement". |
