Kellan's pretty into music right now. He loves watching U2 concert videos (obviously, we are raising him well) and he also loves marching bands. Tubas, trumpets, drums and guitars are probably his favorite instruments at the moment. Before:Kellan is very skeptical about what's about to happen -- it seems awfully boring and quiet in the room, but at least Grandpa Ron and Grandma Tina are around During:So far, so good -- he seems to enjoy the tandem clapping After:The music moved him -- right off his chair and onto the floor That "After" photo was actually taken as the quintet played their last note. He really only spent the last couple of minutes of the concert on the floor, but it's obvious he really loosened up by the end of the show.

Above: My very lonely, but very lovely, yarn stash Oh boy, I'm in trouble. Below: I spend a moment coddling my delicious Muench Touch Me and try to remember what the heck I bought it for in the first place I can't believe this is happening -- Kellan is sound asleep in his big boy bed at naptime. He's not banging on the door, or pulling all his books off the shelves...he's not even messing with the humidifier. He's sleeping. I think it's been two weeks since we've had a successful Quiet Time. I was an early reader. And I hope to instill that same love of reading in Kellan. We love reading together and do it every day. In fact, he's getting boatloads of books for Christmas, which is great because he loves them as much -- if not more than -- his toys. Here's how my reading has been going (besides my abnormal addiction to parenting magazines...that should be an entirely separate blog post): Anyone who knows me a little knows I love finding a good typo. Funny ones are the best (President Busy instead of President Bush makes me chuckle), but regular old errors are great too. In fact, my love of finding a good typo came in really handy during my high school and college days on various newspaper staffs. I was a dang good copy editor. Do you see that? Kellan is still struggling at naptime. He's whining and crying in his bed as I write this, because I got mean with him and told him he has to stay in bed until I tell him "Quiet Time" is over. I wonder if our pediatrician is going to get her family a little extra something this Christmas, with all the extra cash we've forked out to her in the last week. Thanks to Grandma (Tina) we all took a trip to see Sesame Street Live! at the Idaho Center on Saturday morning. Tyler, Riley and Kailer met us there and we all sat together. We did experience some extreme toddler behavior at our Pizza Hut lunch afterwards, which -- thankfully -- I do not have pictures of. You know those Q & A emails you get every once in a while, where you fill in the blanks on things you like/dislike? Well, here's a Christmas season version of those emails inspired by one I read in the blogosphere. I don't have much to blog about today, so this gives me something to post! 1. Color/theme of your Christmas tree: white lights, red & silver glass balls with a smattering of random ornaments Naptime is a real struggle around here lately. The nap schedule slid a bit over the weekend, there was no nap on Monday (he refused to stop fooling around in his room), and there was no nap yesterday due to a rushed doctor/pharmacy visit. Kellan won't sleep at school, so he ends up exhausted and fussy by dinnertime, or he falls asleep in the car for 10 minutes on the way home and has to wake up for dinner. |
