This weekend provided the perfect fall weather for spending time outdoors.

Ahem. Excuse me? Coach Akey? I would like to see more of the above, please. More zeros for the opposing team and more of our players running their arses off for the end zone But you know what makes me feel better? This song. It's from the UI archival site I mentioned a couple of blog posts ago. It is supposedly the version of Idaho's fight song before the current one, sung by Bing Crosby! You know, this sounds so cheesy, but technology really truly is amazing. When I walked in the house after work Thursday night, Michael's laptop was on the kitchen table making a weird noise. He was oblivious to the noise, sitting on the couch with a bowl of clam chowder. As I peered at the computer to see what was up, I saw myself. The built-in camera was watching me. Every once in a while, I come across something that kind of stops me in my tracks and makes me think about the connection I have to the past, and about the loved ones who came before me. P.S. -- I've finally recovered the CD of pictures of my maternal grandparents. I know pictures of the other side are around here somewhere, but our computer room is in dire need of reorganization, so this will have to do for now. My grandmother -- Sara Denman Sheehy My grandfather -- Dennis Edward Sheehy Since Kellan's arrival in our family 20 months ago, he has flown a total of eight times. I consider flying with a toddler to be kinda like the multiplication factor involved in figuring age in dog years -- eight round-trip flights feels more like, at least, 24 to me. I am having a love affair with my slow cooker. I used up some pre-chopped onion I had leftover from Monday's slow cooked Shepherd's Pie, plus some leftover pumpkin from Sunday's Pumpkin Pancakes. Kellan has developed a bad new habit. And I'm pretty sure it's all my fault.
Pancakes, coffee and the Sunday paper. Just the kind of thing I love on a foggy, cold November morning. Stacked up, and ready for eatin' I sampled first, snapped a pic second -- couldn't help it Look closely -- the world's best applesauce is there on top of the pancakes |
